Thank you for visiting westmun.org! We have recently upgraded this site to better provide our participants with the information they need to have a successful experience. This format will allow delegates to post comments, ask questions, and engage their committees as they prepare for April. My name is Brian Mathusek and I am the Secretary-General for this year’s conference. Please feel free to contact me through this website or at westmun18@gmail.com

We are only seven weeks away from the first day of the conference and there are some important issues I would like to clarify. This year we are simulating 6 organizations at Westmun: the Security Council, UNEP, WHO, the 3rd Committee of the General Assembly, the FAO, and the ICC. The topics have been sent to your school in our brochure which is available for download on this site. The Directors’ Reports for UNEP, the Security Council, and the FAO are now available. THERE IS ONE CHANGE TO THE TOPICS IN THE BROCHURE. In light of the emergency in Haiti, the 3rd Committee will be discussing the international relief effort and rebuilding. We made the difficult choice to replace the topic, “Improving Access to Primary Education,” in order to address this important crisis. The 3rd Committee’s Director’s Reports on Haiti and “Women in Conflict Zones” have been uploaded to the site today. The final topic on “The Effect of Globalization on Indigenous Peoples” will be available shortly along with the WHO report and the ICC case studies.

The country assignments page on this site now has the proper committees and membership, however, we are working to correct an error in the Delegates’ Handbook. Those who have already downloaded it will notice that the Security Council Membership is outdated. Some non-permanent members changed in January. Please refer to the Country Assignments page for a proper listing. We apologize for any confusion.

Please return often to westmun.org for updates and information about the conference. I look forward to seeing you all at the conference.

Regards,

Brian Mathusek
