WHO

United Nations World Health Organization

Sam Hanson, Director-General

The World Health Organization is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system.  On a global scale, the WHO strives to provide leadership on matters critical to health, while also setting and monitoring ethical norms and standards.  The WHO also monitors and assesses health trends worldwide.

During the WestMUN XVII conference, delegates will take on a number of critical issues in the field of health, including the ongoing suffering caused by HIV/AIDS and the looming Shortage of Clean Drinking Water.  The issue of Readiness and Response to a Global Pandemic remains an issue, especially in the light of recent concerns over SARS and the H5N1 (Avian Influenza) virus.

A Full Report from the Director will be available soon!
