Cost

WestMUN prices have been consistently among the lowest available for WestMUN's entire 16-year history. We are continuing that tradition this year, setting our fee at just $160 per school plus $150 per delegate, inclusive of all meals from Thursday dinner to the closing banquet on Saturday night, as well as all materials and presentations. As always, we have negotiated great group rates with our local hotels. WestMUN is a non-profit organization, so we strive to take in no more money than necessary to run the conference.

Education

Nothing engages students in the details of world politics as well as Model UN does, and our conference is designed to fully take advantage of this truism. Students who research a country and several issues in great depth, then defend their position and argue about these same issues can not help but come away from the conference with a new and powerful understanding of international politics. In some large conferences, it is easy for inexperienced students to be left out or left behind or to slide by without fully experiencing the value of the conference. WestMUN is ideal for students new to Model UN, because we have an extensive training program before the conference, and because we take care to foster an environment of inclusiveness. Students have a great opportunity to develop their skills, which helps to make WestMUN a great preparation conference for students who will be attending a conference with 2000 or more people. Of course, WestMUN also provides experienced Model UN participants with a chance to excel. Excellent delegates are recognized and honored, and some will be invited to join the secretariat for next year's conference.

Fun

Although we are careful to avoid the wild excesses that some conferences have become famous for, WestMUN works hard to make the conference a truly great experience for delegates. Plenty of opportunity to socialize is provided, for those both younger and older than 21. In past conferences, the Friday Night Talent Show (or in some cases, Lack-of-Talent Show) has had us laughing so hard that we were in danger of losing bladder control. Of course, the location in beautiful coastal California is a powerful attraction for some of us.
